Travelling to the Isles of Scilly With a Dog
The good news is that all three services to the Isles of Scilly — the ferry, Skybus and helicopter — accept dogs. The Isles of Scilly themselves are a superb dog destination: coastal paths, dog-friendly beaches and a generally relaxed, outdoor-oriented way of life make them ideal for travelling with pets.
Scillonian Ferry
Most dog-friendly option
- Dogs welcome on board — must be booked in advance
- Maximum 2 dogs per adult
- Dogs permitted on the outer decks of the vessel
- Book when purchasing your own ticket at islesofscilly-travel.co.uk
The ferry is the most dog-friendly of the three options. Dogs can enjoy the fresh sea air on deck, and the crossing itself gives them a chance to settle before arrival.

The Isles of Scilly are a genuinely dog-friendly destination. The islands have an extensive network of coastal footpaths, and many beaches welcome dogs year-round. In summer, some beaches have seasonal restrictions during bird nesting periods — always look for local signage on arrival.
Cafés, pubs and restaurants across the islands vary in their dog policies — most welcome dogs in outdoor areas and many in indoor spaces too. It's always worth checking ahead for specific venues.
