Parking For The Scillonian Ferry

Penzance is the mainland departure point for the Scillonian III ferry to the Isles of Scilly. The ferry terminal is located at Penzance Harbour, and parking near the terminal is a common consideration for travellers — particularly those on multi-day trips who need to leave their car while they are on the islands.

This guide covers the main parking options close to Penzance Harbour, plus the excellent alternative of arriving by train.

Arriving by Train

Penzance has a mainline train station with direct services from London Paddington and other major cities. The ferry terminal is a short walk from the station. Arriving by train eliminates parking costs entirely and is a very practical option for many visitors.

Pros

No parking costs or stress
Station is very close to the ferry terminal
Can be booked in advance

Notes

Requires planning journey from home to a mainline station

Arriving By Train — A Practical Alternative

Penzance By Rail

Penzance is well-served by mainline rail — direct services from London Paddington take around 5–6 hours, with connections from Bristol, Exeter and other major cities. The station is a short, flat walk from the Scillonian ferry terminal.

Arriving by train eliminates parking costs, removes the stress of finding a space on busy departure days, and is often a very practical choice for visitors coming from further afield.

How Early Should I Arrive?

We recommend arriving at Penzance Harbour at least 45–60 minutes before your scheduled departure. If you are driving and need to park, allow additional time — particularly on peak days in July and August when car parks fill quickly. A stressful scramble for parking is not the way to start an Isles of Scilly trip.
