Skybus Luggage Allowance
Skybus flights to the Isles of Scilly operate on small aircraft — primarily the de Havilland Twin Otter and Britten-Norman Islander. Because of the aircraft's limited hold capacity and strict weight limits, Skybus has the most restrictive luggage allowance of the three transport options: 15kg per person.
If you are travelling light — on a day trip or short break with minimal luggage — this is perfectly manageable. For longer stays, families with prams, or anyone with sports equipment, the Scillonian ferry (25kg allowance) is a much more practical choice. The same applies to bulky camping or diving gear — contact Skybus before booking to check whether your particular item can be carried.
Important: Skybus operates small aircraft with strict weight limits. The 15kg limit is per person and is strictly enforced. If you arrive with excess luggage, it may not be carried. Always pack to the limit.
Day trip passengers: Day trip tickets do not include a hold luggage allowance. Excess luggage is carried subject to space and weight availability and may be charged separately.

Tips for Travelling Light on Skybus
- Pack only what you truly need — a 15kg limit requires discipline for stays of more than 2 nights.
- Use lightweight luggage — hard shells add dead weight; a soft holdall maximises your clothing allowance.
- Consider shipping items in advance — several Scilly accommodation providers can receive advance deliveries.
- On the islands, laundry facilities are available at some accommodation providers.
- If travelling as a group, consolidating shared items (e.g. sunscreen, toiletries) saves weight across the group.
