Yes — dogs are welcome on all three services

But each operator has different rules, and all require dogs to be booked in advance. You cannot turn up with a dog and expect to travel. Read the full details below before booking.

Travelling To Scilly With Your Dog

The Isles of Scilly are a wonderful destination for dogs and their owners. The islands offer outstanding coastal walks, peaceful roads, beaches, and a relaxed pace that suits dogs beautifully. All three ways of getting there accept dogs — but the policies, space and booking requirements differ significantly between operators.

The key rule is universal: you must pre-book your dog on every service. Dog spaces are genuinely limited — particularly on Skybus and the helicopter — and they do sell out in peak season. Book your dog's place as soon as you book your own ticket.

Dogs On The Islands

Once on the Isles of Scilly, dogs are warmly welcomed. The islands are exceptional for walking — coastal paths circumnavigate all five inhabited islands, and the lack of through traffic makes it safe and relaxed. The islands' soft sand beaches are among the finest in the UK.

Beach access: Most beaches across the islands are dog-friendly. Some carry seasonal restrictions during the summer months (typically May–September) to protect ground-nesting seabirds and maintain a family-friendly environment. Check notices on the beach or with local visitor information on arrival.

Accommodation: A significant proportion of self-catering cottages, guest houses and B&Bs on the islands welcome dogs. Always confirm directly when booking — don't assume. The islands' accommodation fills up early, especially in July and August, so book as soon as possible.

Best advice for dog owners

Book the Scillonian ferry for the most relaxed dog travel experience. Book your dog's place at the same time as your own ticket. Keep flexible travel insurance in case of disruption. And confirm your accommodation is dog-friendly before finalising your booking.
