The Scillonian Crossing in Detail

The Scillonian III departs from Penzance Harbour and arrives at St Mary's Quay, covering approximately 28 miles of open Atlantic sea. The scheduled journey time is approximately 2 hours 45 minutes, though exact times can vary slightly with tides and weather conditions.

The crossing passes St Michael's Mount shortly after leaving Penzance, offering one of the most photographed views in Cornwall. As the coast drops away, the open sea stretch begins. On a clear day, the islands come into view well before arrival, rising out of the Atlantic. The approach into St Mary's Harbour is a memorable moment for first-time visitors.

The Scillonian III is well-equipped for the journey — there is a café and bar, indoor seating, and open deck areas. Many travellers enjoy a coffee or meal during the crossing and make the journey part of the experience.
